April -November 2012 Dinosaurs Bite Back at Chester Zoo
The all-new exhibition features 19 life-like robotic replicas of the creatures that roamed the earth 200 million years ago. This year the exhibition will be even bigger and more interactive than ever before, with the dinosaurs moving, roaring, spitting water and even breaking wind!
May – August 2012 Chester Town Crier Public Proclamations – Chester City Centre
A unique regular midday proclamation in Chester’s historic centre, where Bridge Street meets Eastgate Street and Watergate Street which is marked by a stone pillar “The High Cross”. The proclamation takes place from Tuesday to Saturday from May to the end of August except on days when there are afternoon races when proclamations will be at
May – September 2012 Tatton Park Biennial
Tatton Park Biennial presents ‘Flights of Fancy’, with twenty nationally and internationally celebrated artists all making new works that explore the aeronautical history of Tatton and the human urge to fly. Film, video, sculpture, installation and performance are all premiered by the Biennial, bringing fresh insights to this much-loved heritage attraction which is one of the most complete historic estates in Britain.
2nd June-15th July MBNA Chestival
Chester City CentreThe sun is starting to shine which means it must be MBNA Chestival time, returning for its third year in Chester. Longer days and lighter nights have arrived which is great as there’s plenty to see and do during MBNA Chestival. Your favorite events from the last
two years make a welcome return and are joined by some exciting brand new innovations and along with celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee on 4th & 5th June, Chester will be one big party. So come and join the fun with family and friends and discover Chester through its best events and festivals.
6th July – 19th August Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre – Grosvenor Park, Chester

Over 46 days and balmy nights this summer you have the chance to find out why Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is making such a splash as a new season of stunning outdoor theatre in the majestic setting of Grosvenor Park begins. This year the theatre has two new productions of Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare and a newly commissioned piece of writing from Glyn Maxwell called Masters Are You Mad?


May 26th Chester Races – Chester Racecourse
Roman Day on 26th May is a family fun day with Roman displays, exciting entertainment and seven races it’s a great family day out.
May 29th London Olympic Torch Relay & Evening Celebration – Chester City Centre

Chester is the first city in the North West to host the historic event. The Olympic Torch will travel through Chester to the Racecourse where a fun-packed family evening celebration will take place culminating in The Moment When, an exciting performance celebrating special moments in our lives.

Up to nine hundred community dancers from the thousands engaged in The Moment When… will take part in this event, and will perform alongside professional dance artists and aerialists. With a newly commission musical score and spectacular pyrotechnics, this exciting free-to-attend event at Chester Racecourse will make it a year to remember.
31st May London Olympic Torch Relay – various locations around Cheshire

The Olympic Torch will leave Cheshire via Jodrell Bank, Haslington, Congleton, Macclesfield and Warrington to continue its journey around the United Kingdom.


1st – 4th June Bolesworth Showjumping Classic – Bolesworth Castle
Set in the beautiful grounds of Bolesworth Castle, Bolesworth Showjumping Classic features top class equestrian competition and great all round family entertainment. Now in its fifth year, the show attracts many of the top horses and riders in the country, including prospective members of the Great Britain Olympic Team. As well as equestrian activity there’s plenty of activities to keep the while family entertained including helicopter flights over the Bolesworth Estate, vintage car displays, falconry, clay pigeon shooting, fine food, extensive shopping village, as well as vintage fairground rides and zip wires over the lake! There really is something for everyone to enjoy and we will also be joining in the celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee over the weekend. 
1st & 2nd June  Coutts International Polo Weekend – Chester Racecourse
The Coutts International Polo Weekend, now in its seventh year, has become the polo club’s flagship tournament, with teams competing to win £10,000 in prize money. Enjoy the hospitality in the exclusive Sponsors’ and Players’ Enclosure, or just come along and bring a picnic – both make for a memorable day.
1st – 4th June Chester Folk Festival – Kelsall

Over 50 events with something for all the family – the perfect setting for spending an afternoon, evening, whole day or the full weekend. Featuring a stunning line-up that reflects the broad range of music that is today’s folk scene. The festival happens in various venues in Kelsall, near Chester. 
4th & 5th June The Great British Food Festival – Walton Hall, Warrington
Bring your blanket… the picnic awaits!! This year along with our wonderful food and drink festival- they’re also throwing a great big, traditional, British summer party. There’ll be games and activities for the kids, a balloon race, bake-offs, bunting aplenty, excellent live music and of course a fantastic array of food and drink from our exhibitors!! There’ll be the traditional British favorite’s and stalls embracing our modern, culturally diverse Britain (think British but with a funky, modern twist!).
 9th June Chester Races – Chester Racecourse

June is the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and to celebrate Chester Racecourse are holding a special Jubilee Day on 9th June with seven thrilling races.
 9th June World Environment Day – Ness Botanic Gardens
Come and take part in our 18th anniversary celebration of the Environment; this is a family afternoon out with plenty of activities and a trail for children. Ness will be joined by several other organisations including the National Trust, Cheshire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB to collectively celebrate the environment and all it means to us.
15th – 17th June Cholmondeley Pageant of Power – Cholmondeley Castle

Calling all speed freaks! The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power is an enthralling mix of speed, skill and sheer bravery. The Pageant is a celebration of all things speedy on land, air and in the water with the majority of action taking place on a specially built 1.2 mile race track. The Deer Park Mere will host the largest gathering of inshore racing power boats in the UK, whilst spectacles in the air include demonstrations from the Breitling Wingwalkers, the RAF and over 150 privateers.

19th & 20th June Cheshire County Show – Tabley
Cheshire County Show is the largest 2-day county show in England’s Northwest, with a large equestrian section, farm livestock classes, dog shows, flowers, a superb food hall, cheese, crafts, shoppers mews and country pursuits, it’s a fun-packed event.
23rd June World Worm Charming Championship – Willaston

This truly unique rural event is bound to raise a few eyebrows and smiles as a host of worm charmers come from around the world to the small village of Willaston near
Nantwich in Cheshire’s Upper Weaver Valley, to employ various methods of charming worms from the soil!
Regularly attended by several celebrity guests from Fred the Weatherman, to Bob Carolgees and Spit the Dog, to Countryfile’s Ben Fogle in recent years, this is not one to be missed!
Come and see how many worms you can charm, and even have a go at beating the existing Guinness World Record of 511 worms – using only vibrations in a maximum of 30 minutes!
Or just simply stand back and watch all the fun!

18th – 22nd July RHS Flower Show Tatton Park – Tatton Park

Set in the striking Cheshire countryside at one of Cheshire’s Gardens of Distinction, the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park offers a truly unique day out for all garden lovers. Be inspired by the latest fashions showcased in the renowned back-to-back gardens, flowerbeds and floral displays. Buy new and exciting plants from award-winning nurseries and specialists in the floral marquees. Browse for gardening accessories from over 300 exhibitors around the show and purchase luxury produce, gifts and food in the Country Living Magazine Pavilion. Take a break with a picnic or at any one of the fantastic eateries at the show, and to round off the day, why not make a visit to the

25th July  Nantwich Show/International Cheese Show – Dorfold Hall

Massive marquees will house the International Cheese Show as well as home, food, garden, leisure, home produce and handicraft displays. And if that’s not enough, there will over 400 trade stands to browse and enjoy retail therapy in the Cheshire countryside.
28th July Hallé Fireworks and Light Spectacular – Tatton Park
Join the world-famous Hallé and their choir of 100 voices, conducted by Stephen Bell, as they perform some of the most celebrated and exciting pieces of choral music. Witness a breathtaking programme including Handel’s Zadok the Priest, the Anvil Chorus from Verdi’s Il trovatore and Orf’s formidable O Fortuna from Carmina Burana in the stunning lakeside setting of Tatton Park. The concert will culminate with a breathtaking synchronised fireworks display.
29th July Party! At Tatton Park – Tatton Park

A fantastic Picnic Concert set against the beautiful backdrop of Tatton Park. Featuring some of the greatest and most successful artists of the 1980s including Spandau Ballet’s enigmatic front man Tony Hadley, the soulful voice of Rick Astley, sultan of soul Roland Gift of the Fine Young Cannibals, Heaven 17 and cult Scottish rockers Altered Images. With anthems amongst them including ‘Gold’, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, ‘She Drives Me Crazy’, ‘Temptation’ and ‘Happy Birthday’, Back To The 80s is set to be a sensational party night. This outstanding evening is in association with Francis House Children’s Hospice, with a portion of proceeds raised on the night going towards care for children and young adults with life-threatening conditions from all over the North West.
