The Environment, Global Warming and Recycling are issues we hear about almost every day on TV and in newspapers. To try and reduce the carbon footprint of the hotel we have taken several measures already and we will continue  to make changes in the future

LOW ENERGY LIGHTING

Back in 1987 we first converted to energy saving lighting throughout the hotel. As time has passed fittings have been replaced, and each time we have a selected a fitting that uses less energy than the previous.

GAS CONDENSING BOILERS

In 2005 we installed new condensing boilers. The conversion to these new more economical boilers has saved 65 tonnes of carbon per year.

TONER RECYCLING SCHEME

In 2006 we began refilling our printer toner cartridges with a local company, This move alone has saved in landfill, cut carbon from the manufacturing process and saved carbon in delivering cartridges from much further a field.

BETTER TO BUY LOCAL

To save on carbon through delivery miles we do our best to find the products we need locally. So far this has worked well and 80- 90% of our purchases are from locally companies.

CUTTING DOWN ON PAPER

We are in the process of converting all our Brochures, flyers and Menus into .pdf format and making them available online. Hopefully this will result in a reduction of printing and delivery.

THE FUTURE

COMBINED HEAT & POWER GENERATOR

In the near future we plan to fit a combined Heat & Power Generator, potentially saving 90 tonnes of carbon per year.
